So, the best thing EVER happened on September 5th....I married my best friend! It was the most beautiful, wonderful, exciting day of my life. Marc Georges is the man I have prayed for. He is patient, kind, loving, generous, funny, handsome....he is everything (and more) I could have dreamed of having in a husband. He is proof that God cares, He listens, and He wants to give us the desire of our hearts. So, this blog isn't about me anymore! It's about Marc Georges and I, Us, Nou, Me and my Husband! We are so excited to share our adventures in Haiti with you. God has given us this life, this calling, and we are grateful that you are a part of it!
Our honeymoon in Punta Cana was truly spectacular- the most perfect way to start our life together. When we got back home, we organized our apartment (we have an apartment!!) and got ready for real life to start. It has started, friends, and boy is it busy!
Here are some things Marc Georges and I will be doing for the next few months:
I will be working in the office and doing the accounting while the DTS goes on outreach. Marc Georges is the head of our maintenance department on base, so he will continue in that. He will also be leading worship a lot more during Wednesday night church services since a lot of our staff will be leaving at the end of this month. Marc Georges and I will be staffing the FCC (Foundations in Christian Character) school together and we will also be going on outreach for a week with the DTS! (Marc Georges is DTS staff, but seeing as we just got married we (and the base leadership) decided it was better that he didn't go on outreach for the 2 months...without me! #thankGod #i'dmisshimtoomuch)
We also hope to staff DTS together in January so it is going to be a BUSY life for the next several months (probably year, lol).
We would love to be able to visit Canada in December for Christmas (MG has never seen snow!). We prayed about it, and seeing as the visa process can be long and time consuming we wanted to make sure if we got into it- it was what God wanted for us. We feel that if the money comes in for plane tickets home, we will start the visa process. When applying for a visa to Canada they are wanting to know that you plan on going back to Haiti- so any kind of proof that you have roots/ connections in Haiti will help your case. Having a return flight will definitely help them know were coming back! We're putting it in God's hands so please be praying for us for wisdom and JOY during this time.
We have a list of things we would love to purchase as a newly married couple. We both know that God has plans for us in Haiti and that we will be here long term- why not start preparing now! We would love your prayers for the finances for these items to come in:
Inverter (It's hot, we love fans, and having a refrigerator that stays on would help make ice! oh and....keep our food from going bad the next day)
Fridge (Having our own fridge would free up the base fridge we have now for other people AND you never know, God could call us to another part of Haiti- if we bought a fridge we could take it with us!)
Stove (same as above)
Laptop (we don't currently have a laptop in good condition. This would help with writing newsletters, connecting with YOU and watching movies :) I would love a Macbook Pro 13"....yea I've thought/ researched about it haha)
Washing machine (as much as I love washing my clothes by hand- a washing machine would be...helpful, luxurious, reallllllly nice)
Here are just some other wants- totally not needs- just things we would like to have for enjoyment:
TV (again, movies!!)
Play Station (MG recently hinted his interest in this)
We are also needing to raise our monthly support. If you feel led to partner with us monthly in what we are doing here in Haiti please Facebook message me or email me at [email protected]. Monthly support helps us pay our staff fees (housing, food, electricity) save money (so we don't have to fundraise for every little thing), pay for things we might need in our ministries (ex. I am wanting to do a bible study at my house in the future and I would love to buy journals/ devotionals or even an actual bible study for the girls) and then purchase extra things like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, ice cream on occasion :)
We love and appreciate you so much. This has been an incredible year so far- God is so good and faithful to us.
Much love,
Marc Georges and Kristen (husband and wife- that is so fun to say!)
